The three editors are affiliated as follows: Bengt Furaker and Kristina Hakansson (sociology, U. of Gothenburg, Sweden) and Jan Ch. Karlsson (sociology, Karlstad U., Sweden). They have gathered 12 contributions (several of which they authored or co-authored)--beginning with discussion of the relevance of studying work orientation. Among the other topics: theoretical and conceptual considerations, work centrality in western Europe, a comparison between Anglo-Saxon and Nordic countries, work attitudes in low-status occupations, temporary agency workers, and work travel.
