The research project underlying the volume is part of an ongoing cooperative effort between the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the analogous Chinese agency to conserve and restore
the historic and cultural heritage of northwestern China, begin in 2002. Brilliant color photographs, floor plans, elevations, drawings, and text contribute to chapters on the Taihe Dian's
architecture, architectural survey, building elements, and a cognitive methodology. One of the principal goals of the project was to demonstrate and share methodology. No index is provided. The
