Forgetting

Given virtual scientific amnesia on the vital role of forgetting in memory--except in literary accounts noted such as Jorge Luis Borges' story, "Funes, the Memorious," this volume is devoted to empirical investigations of forgetting. Della Sala (human cognitive neuroscience, U. of Edinburgh, UK) introduces 13 essays by international neuroscientists, cognitive scientists, and psychologists who review conceptual, theoretical, historical, taxonomic, and neurobiological approaches to normal types of forgetting and forgetting in patients with neurological disease or psychogenic amnesia.
