Twelve academics from the U.S. and Mexico contribute 12 chapters to a text focusing primarily on qualitative approaches to the study of communication and Latina/os. The media studied include
radio, television, cinema, magazines, and newspapers. Four key areas addressed include the formation of the field and the production of the category "Latina/o" both historically and across
languages within communications, auto-ethnography and performance studies within communications, examples of representational analysis of contemporary Latina/os in the media and Latina/o media,
