Novelist Jonathan Baumbach was the film critic for The Partisan Review in the 1970s and 1980s. He touched on a range of interests, including the legacy of French New Wave and the rise of New Hollywood. Though he was a contemporary of Pauline Kael and Andrew Sarris, his criticism has never before been collected in one place.
