Jack & Mollie & Her

Jack & Mollie (& Her) is an exuberant, original and wildly inventive verse novel, which tells the story of ‘J’ through the eyes of her two dogs, Jack and Mollie. The dogs are adopted by J at a time when she is downcast, and their presence in her life proves vivifying and redemptive. In between the dogs’ adventures, they provide observant commentary on her life. Jack is an Australian Silky Terrier with the character of a Greek philosopher and the soul of a Russian poet. He possesses a penchant for complex words, albeit expressed with questionable syntax. Jack is the ’watcher’: the keeper of order, the cautious ideologist, the noble of heart. Mollie is a Heinz variety ’punk’. Her thoughts are wild stream of consciousness. She is a true party girl – joyous, mischievous, yet innocent. This unlikely duo offers a canine perspective of the day-to-day happenings of an ordinary human.
