The Black Roof and other poems is a new collection of verse from fledgling writer Graham Eveleigh. Written over the course of several years, The Black Roof and other poems demonstrates an
emphasis on perspective, colour and character. With an often irreverent tone, the collection explores the darker sides of identity and sexuality. Childhood rhymes leave a strong impression on
several of the verses, but tainted with the added layer of knowingness that comes with age. Adopting and testing a wide range of styles, meters and forms, the poems vary from being as short as
limericks and as long as songs. The twenty-three poem range, plus introduction from the poet, includes The Black Roof, Musical Chairs, I’m looking and Electric Blue. Experimental, bold and
charming, this collection is a broad spectrum of observations and ruminations.
