Editors Sarah Yi-Mei Tsiang and Sheri Benning embarked on an exploration of Canada’s poetic landscape when they envisionedTag: Canadian Poets at Play. They began with
a selection of twelve poems from some of Canada’s deceased literary greats. Kroetsch, Lowther, Purdy, Livesay and others set the stage then are each followed by a succession of six poets
responding to and inspired by the master. This game of "tag" results in twelve threads that weave through the lives and landscapes of Canadian identity. Lorna Crozier, Elizabeth Bachinsky, Ian
Williams and Brian Brett are among the more than 70 poets who form the throng both celebrating and examining Canada and what it is to be Canadian.
