This workbook/CD-ROM package is designed to accompany the authors’ book titled The Affect Regulation Toolbox. While the previous book was written for clinicians, this book is written to be
accessible to clients working with a professional as well as general readers working on their own. In comparison to the previous book, this workbook offers tools for coping with a broader range
of emotional challenges, specifically precursors of emotional flooding such as abandonment, hopelessness, shame, and judgement. Part 1 defines and explains emotional flooding as a key factor in
anxiety, and Part 2 presents exercises for relaxing and lowering emotional reactivity through positive self-statements, guided imagery, mindfulness, and self-reflection. Each activity includes
step-by-step directions and space for written reflections. The workbook closes with lists of organizations, therapist associations, audio recordings, and recommended books in many categories.
The CD contains audio exercises; a free app is available for download. Author Carolyn Daitch directs the Center for the Treatment of Anxiety Disorders, affiliated with the University of
Michigan School of Medicine’s Department of Complementary and Alternative Research. Co-author Lissah Lorberbaum is a clinical psychologist specializing in somatic psychology. Annotation ©2016
