For researchers, teachers, and students in linguistics and translation and film studies, and translators and language professionals, Cintas (translation, Imperial College, London, UK) et al.
compile 18 studies of theoretical and practical issues related to audiovisual translation in media from commercials to sitcoms to films. The contributors, a European group scholars of
translation studies, English and linguistics, examine subtitling and dubbing, including translating dialect and transferring cultural references; media accessibility (subtitling for the deaf
and hard-of-hearing and audio description for the blind); and didactic applications, among them simultaneous interpreting and foreign language education. The book originated in the second Media
for All conference, "Text On Screen, Text On Air," held in Leiria, Portugal, in November 2007, and has additional contributions. Price is converted from euros and subject to fluctuation.
