Kirszner and Mandell present readers with the ninth edition of their portable anthology of works in the English language along with criticism and exercises in their reading, writing about them,
and understanding them. The authors have organized the thirty chapters that make up the main body of their text in four parts devoted to a guide to writing about literature, fiction, poetry,
and drama. Laurie G. Kirszner is a retired faculty member of the University of the Sciences in Pennsylvania. Stephen R. Mandell is a faculty member of Drexel University in Pennsylvania.
