Barbash has expanded, corrected, and otherwise revived her 2005 doctoral dissertation in Near Eastern studies at Johns Hopkins University for this volume. It focuses on the papyrus W551 of the
Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, which records a series of hieratic mortuary texts for a man named Padikakem, whose name was inserted in the blank spaces provided for this purpose. It
is comparable to numerous Late Period and Greco-Roman papyri, though some texts go back to the Old Kingdom, and it's good preservation allows a broader understanding of the orthography and
paleography. Distributed in North America by The David Brown Book Co. Annotation 穢2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
