This is an anthology of prose and poetry from artists and poets active in the lower east side of Manhattan during the early 1960s. Deliberately unedited, this volume showcases the work of
coffee house poets, early multi-media expressionists, and raw characters, some of whom would go on to receive grants and some measure of success. Berg矇 (1928-2006) poet, writer, and a member of
the group, solicited submissions from 35 artists, compiling them into a collective memoir of this post-beat poetry scene. The work includes twenty-eight photo plates as well as an introduction
