Re-writing, Re-making, Re-discovery was the theme of the fifth biennial Image and Imagery International Conference, held at Brock University in October 2008, and the 24 essays here were
developed from presentations there. They consider the ancient and enduring practice of recycling visual elements and forms within the framework of postmodern theories developed in the context
of cinema and virtual reality. The topics include the many faces of a pharaoh in Nabuib Mahfouz's Akhenaten, Dweller in Truth, Heracles and friendship in Euripedes and T. S. Eliot, negotiating
a dissident identity in the poetry of Aemilia Lanyer, female representation and spatial relations in Jacques Doillon's film Raja, and rewriting autobiography in Sophie Calle's Double Game.
