Grieco, a master mosaicist, supplies three of the five essays presented in this volume He writes about the history of mosaics in Rome, the modern version of ancient mosaics, and enamels and glass pastes for mosaics. Two other authors write about the history of micromosaics--and protagonists, and the origins of this art form. The heart of the book is the catalog, which showcases an extraordinary collection of 600 works. Arrangement of the catalog is in sections on paperweights, pictures, tables, miscellaneous objects, modern works, and contemporary works; a great number are shown full page, while others (especially jewelry and little items) are shown smaller, many to a page.
