Fourteen contributions written by university-based psychology scholars and researchers address the phenomenon of long-term priming, a kind of "unconscious" or "implicit" memory. The first
section includes three chapters that take a broad view of priming, its possible functions, and how implicit memory may be delineated from other forms of memory. In the next section, chapters
adopt the view that priming is embedded within systems that support word and object recognition and employ priming phenomena to further our understanding of these systems. In the third section,
priming is examined from a more traditional memory perspective, using priming to examine questions about memory per se . A final chapter provides commentary on the whole enterprise. Annotation
