The chansons de geste ("songs of heroic deeds") of Biblioteca Nazionale Manoscritto marciano fondo franceses XIII of Venice, Italy, is a frequently studied text in the scholarly literature
concerned with early Italian and late Old French languages and literary traditions. Edited and with commentary by Morgan (modern languages and literatures, Loyola College), this two-volume text
reproduces all of these chanson de geste in a single format. The commentary builds upon the work of Aldo Rosellini’s 1986 edition, commenting upon his notes, as well as such topics as literary
precedents and later versions of the individual chansons in different languages in addition to versification and metrics. The text also includes a complete glossary of the lexicon of the
chansons, constructed with the aid of modern computer techniques. ACMRS stands for the Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
