Assessing Impairment

Impairment is equally important to evaluate as symptoms. Impairment quantifies the extent to which the disorder disrupts the functioning of an individual. An increasing body of research is demonstrating that although there is a relationship between symptom severity and impairment, the two should be evaluated independently.
