Hein and Truger (Macroeconomic Policy Institute, Hans Boeckler Foundation, Germany) compile 11 essays that critique the modern orthodoxy in macroeconomics. They discuss alternative approaches
to macroeconomics and economy policy analysis, with sections on the development of heterodox economic theory and the role of money in macroeconomics, the relationship between distribution and
aggregate demand, and macroeconomic policy issues examined from a broader heterodox perspective. Essays were first presented at the 9th Conference of the German Research Network, "Alternative
Conceptions of Macroeconomic Policies under the Conditions of Unemployment, Globalisation and High Public Debt" called "Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Policies-Alternatives to the Orthodoxy,"
which was held in Berlin in October of 2005. Other papers were published in two books and a special issue of Intervention Journal of Economics. Contributors are scholars of economics and
international banking and are based in Europe, the US, and Australia. The volume is aimed at scholars, researchers and postgraduate students of macroeconomics and economic policy, money and
banking, and Post-Keynesian economics. Annotation 穢2007 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
