This book is designed to help practitioners in translating theory to practice in the delivery of career counseling and services. The theoretical focus of the book is the cognitive information
processing (CIP) approach to career problem solving and decision-making developed and applied at Florida State University since 1971. The CIP approach is currently being used in numerous
educational and employment settings in North America and Europe. This book is the culmination of 29 years of experience in delivering career resources and services and in training practitioners
in various settings. It provides a framework for integrating a variety of other career theories, thus increasing the likelihood that practitioners can use the CIP approach in practice.
