Words the Hearth

Don Kerr has written a thought-provoking poetry collection, in part inspired by the thoughts and works of other great writers, most notably Walter Benjamin and John Berger. Even when taking inspiration from other writers, however, Kerr is a unique prairie voice who writes in a number of forms, including the lyric, narrative, and prose poem. His work reflects on history, the nature of time, and the frailty of memory. Words the Hearth is Don Kerr’s eleventh collection of poetry and he has long been recognized as one of Saskatchewan’s finest poets. What stands out most about Kerr’s writing style is his word play, and his deft command of language and its malleable properties.
