Klassen traces the rich history of quilting in the Tennessee Delta area. Of special note is the emphasis on the social relationships formed through quilt making--Klassen makes a point to
discuss the coming together of white and black communities through quilting. The book follows quilting from the days of tenant farming up to the present time, showing that the art and craft of
quilting is alive and well. The text contains a great many photographs of quilts both old and new. Interviews with quilters are included, as well as common historical quilt patterns. Annotation
