內容簡介

Photographer Cris Antona documents the lives of 26 women living in the remote Catlins region on the southeast coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Each woman is profiled with b&w photos and excerpts from extensive interviews with her, revealing the diverse life histories, motivations, and survival methods of indigenous and white women of various ages, including those who were born and raised there as well as those who chose to move to this beautiful but isolated area of rugged coastlines and rainforests. The book includes details on traditional methods of ways of farming, sheep and cattle ranching, cooking, gardening, crafting, and fishing. The book contains b&w photos throughout, many full page. Photographer Cris Antona teaches at Otago Polytechnic. Editor Diana Noonan is a freelance journalist who lives on the Catlins coast. Annotation ©2017 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
