Ed Van der Elsken (1925-90) was one of the most vibrant documentary photographers of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Inspired by Weegee's book Naked City, his pictures often dwell on the darker side
of human existence. In 1950 he moved from his native Holland to Paris where he created, Love on the Left Bank, his most celebrated work. Photography is the visual medium of the modern world. It
