Combining “soft” insights based on informed observation and experience with “hard” analytics based on microeconomics and management science, Professor emeritus Massy shares his ideas about how
traditional universities work, why their strengths are so important, what changes are needed, and how the changes can be accomplished. He creates a roadmap forward and guidelines for how to
proceed at each stage. He argues that traditional universities need to reform themselves to meet the economic, competitive, technological, and political challenges of the twenty-first century,
while at the same time preserving their assets and sustaining their essential values. He examines flaws in the academic business model that need correcting, addresses teaching effectiveness,
the problem of cost escalation and how to contain it. Annotation ©2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
