Berry, who has lectured and led retreats based on the spiritual teaching of Vincent van Gogh, describes the spiritual vision of the artist in his life and art. She details his childhood as the
son of a pastor, his work as an art dealer’s apprentice, how he found comfort in religion, and how he searched for a vocation that would give his life meaning, first through his religious
studies to become a minister and training at missionary school, and then through art. She draws on his letters, particularly those with his brother Theo, to discuss the events of his art career
and illustrate the spirituality in his works. Annotation ©2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
