This study of gothic architecture in Ireland from 1789 to 1915 concentrates on smaller buildings, such as parish churches, monasteries, and cathedrals outside of Dublin. Going beyond
architecture, discussion touches on social and legal issues related to protection and restoration of medieval architecture in Ireland, as well as political issues surrounding heritage and
memory. The book also considers the role of aristocratic patrons and the place of ruins in the landscape. Black and white photographs and historical illustrations are included. Distributed in
