Magazines, Travel, and Middlebrow Culture: Canadian Periodicals in English and French 1925–1960

Arising from a collaborative research project and taking a cross-cultural approach, this book focuses on six magazines (in English and in French) which are both similar in character and yet distinctive, in three primary contexts: current research on magazines, on travel, and on middlebrow culture, with the latter providing the theoretical framework. The authors found, among other things, that the presentation of travel was greatly influenced by the national agendas which shaped all six magazines.
