Some fifty years ago in a forest cabin nestled in the California redwoods I heard a silent voice say to me, “You are not your thoughts,” a message that marked the beginning of my quest for
understanding the meaning of intuition and true identity. This book is a poetic diary of my expanding consciousness and my inner surrender to the love and the truth of the masters in order to
comprehend these notions. It originated during a childhood of early challenges, joys, and traumas, as many have experienced. As a young man, I was closed off, unwilling to accept the life I was
dealt and rebelling against everything. It was not until I began to truly listen to the unsolicited inner promptings that my anger began to dissolve. I experienced my first major intuition as a
teenager. After graduating from high school, two friends and I took the family car to Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. We were holding on to the railing as we stood 3,200 feet above the
canyon floor watching a beautiful storm developing across the valley when suddenly I received an inner message saying, “Step back from the rail.” We took a couple of steps back, and instantly
lightning struck the rail, turning the world electric with ozone and yellow light. We ran away from the cliff edge, shaken but elated at the near miss. I have periodically received many such
messages following that incident, and the poems in this book flow from the same source as that warning I received as a teenager.
