Himelstein and Saul describe a program for adolescents that integrates best practices from the fields of mindfulness, psychotherapy, and addiction treatment. Their goal is to help mental health
professionals, teachers, and other facilitators who provide group-based substance abuse treatment connect with adolescents on an authentic level and foster greater self-awareness and greater
regulatory capacity over unhealthy behaviors. The sessions include mindfulness of drugs and their health effects, reacting versus responding, emotional awareness, mindfulness of triggers, the
family system and drugs, mindfulness of the peer system, and closing ceremony. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
