Yates-Owen and Fournier have compiled a handbook for identifying more than 4,750 marks of British studio potters and others who have worked in Britain. Most of the pioneering potters have been
catalogued, they say, but the growing demand for studio pottery by collectors and users has left many potters with a wide following but no documentation. In order to be cited, they say, potters
must have a studio with an address and, with rare exceptions, form and fire the the work themselves. The entries include name, dates, location, types of pottery, the mark or marks, and how they
are put on the piece (pressed, inscribed, painted, etc.) The index is by type of figure--creatures, monograms, and signs. James Hazlewood updated and edited this third edition. Annotation ©2016
