In a revision of his 2012 PhD dissertation at Masaryk University in the Czech Republic, Bican seeks to account for the combinability and the arrangement of formal means used by speakers of
Czech. He uses the axiomatic functionalism developed by Jan Mulder and Sándor Hervey. His topics include an outline of the theory, the theoretical background of the distributional unit and its
application to Czech, position classes, nuclear distributions, properties of pre-nuclear and post-nuclear combinations, and combinations of nuclear and peripheral phonemes. Annotation ©2014
