Library consortia are collaborative associations of libraries. This book explains their reasons for being, activities and services, governance, management and some current issues. For example,
a current (and ongoing) issue faced by consortia is delivery to patrons of both electronic and physical material. Included are 16 case studies. Some of these tell of software solutions such as
open source shared systems, and increasing access to databases, e-books and textbooks. Others describe logistical projects, including fiscal sponsorship; temporary, contractual and shared
staffing; and sharing a physical depository. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
