Scholars of business and economics and sociology and political science explore how French sociologist Bourdieu’s (1930-2002) research into organizations can be used to make and understand
management decisions. First looking at new frontiers in research and theory, then turning to empirical insights, they consider such topics as a relational understanding of careers based on
Bourdieu’s cornerstones, his carnal theorizing in organizations and management, reintroducing power and struggles within organizational fields, positioning gender equality as an element of
power struggles in universities, and whether strategies of women managers in sports organizations are a way of subversion or a reproduction of the existing gendered field. Annotation ©2015
