Quin (c. 1575-1640) was born in Dublin, educated in Germany and Scotland, became a court poet to King James IV in Edinburgh, moved with the court to London when James became the first Stuart
king of England, and continued in royal service for the rest of his life. His poetry and prose in English, Latin, French, and Italian praised the Stuarts and dealt with historical and
philosophical themes. Flood has collected and edited 16 works, translating into English when necessary. Among them are Anagrammata, Corona virtutum, and The Memory of the Most Worthy and
