Dress and Ideology: Fashioning Identity from Antiquity to the Present plays with the concept that ideologies--nationhood, religion, identity, and politics--are expressed through personal
fashion. The notion that there is a relationship between ideas and what people wear is an important, yet under-researched, theme in fashion research. Chapters are arranged by theme, rather than
chronology, and span a broad range of time, from the ancient world to the present day, as well as a wide geographical and historical range. Nine contributors from various backgrounds,
nationalities, and ethnicities bring forth diverse perspectives from different parts of the world. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
