Development professionals and social activists explore old and new issues related to land and land reforms, with particular reference to the Indian state of Utter Pradesh. They cover overviews, agrarian structure and agricultural growth, land access and the marginalized, land reforms: findings from a primary survey, and emerging issues. Some of the 17 studies were revised from presentations at an August 2008 seminar organized by the Giri Institute of Development Studies in Lucknow; others were written for the volume.
