Transnational Corporations, Technology and Economic Development: Backward Linkages and Knowledge Transfer in South-East Asia

Giroud (international business, Bradford University School of Management) examines relationships between transnational corporations (TNCs) and the economic development of host economies. He develops a theoretical framework for the activities of TNCs and reviews their impacts on South East Asian economies, drawing on data collected from TNCs in the Malaysian electrical and electronics sector. The study provides a range of qualitative and quantitative data on the existence and the degree of knowledge transfer through backward linkages.
