This handbook consists of 24 contributed chapters pertaining to power, structure, and the global financial system; the political economy of exchange rates; global finance--crises and
regulation; and international monetary institutions. The first chapter points out that prior to the 2008 global financial crisis, relatively little attention was paid to the subject; yet how to
"capture the benefits of global monetary and financial integration without suffering substantial costs" is not a new dilemma, nor has it been solved. Articles address the political economy of
the contemporary dollar standard, global imbalances and the international monetary system, the renminbi-dollar relationship, regional exchange rate systems, and currency unions in the
developing world, among other topics. Annotation ©2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
