The editor’s introduction traces the history of the concept of the learning organization and its emergence as a field of study in its own right. Örtenblad is author or co-author of about one
third of the 22 contributions; other authors are academics based in Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East--involved with organization studies, knowledge management and transfer,
business management, and psychology, among other fields. Sandwiched between introductory discussions and general reflections, contributions address the development and practices of learning
organizations in China and Mexico; Islamic perspectives; and experiences within the Australian Army and in contexts such as elderly care, family firms, universities, public sector organizations
(the education system in Pakistan), and small and medium-size businesses in developing countries. Annotation ©2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
