The result of a research project carried out by the Inter-American Development Bank’s Latin American and the Caribbean Research Network, this volume explores the potentials and limits of
policies to promote entrepreneurship as a vehicle for social mobility in the Latin American and Caribbean region. The volume opens with a review of the economic literature on entrepreneurship,
the middle class, and social mobility, which is followed by chapters that profile the business processes of middle-class entrepreneurs and their firms, analyze the role played by
entrepreneurship in inter-generational social and economic mobility, assess the role of values in shaping the choice to become and entrepreneur, and explore the role of social capital in the
dynamism of entrepreneurial firms. Annotation ©2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
