For seven years, authors Bjerke and Karlsson (Linnaeus University, Sweden) participated in a project designed to inform researchers about social entrepreneurship in Europe, which gave them
access to social entrepreneurs and their projects. Here, they report on what they learned and contribute to the discussion on how to design innovative projects in social entrepreneurship. The
first five chapters of the book outline basic concepts, while the next two chapters analyze their authors’ observations and draw conclusions. A final chapter discusses theory in more detail and
reflects on research which has guided the authors. Appendices describe the research project and some of the social entrepreneurial activities the authors observed; there is also an appendix on
the role of women in social entrepreneurship. The book’s audience includes students, researchers, and practitioners in social entrepreneurship. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
