This publication by the World Bank aggregates data on over 225 countries about per capita net income, savings, and urban population growth, as well as dozens of metrics related to the state of
agriculture, forests and biodiversity, oceans, energy and emissions, water and sanitation, the environment and health. Each alphabetical entry takes up exactly one page. A glossary in the back
explains virtually all of the limited terms used in the entries. The forward asserts that "many countries do not have the information they need on the state of their environment and natural
resources," pointing also to adjusted net savings as a complement to GDP for assessing economic health. There is no index. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
