International contributors take a critical view of venture capital as a phenomenon, especially as related to the institutional venture capital market. Major themes include governance
structures, performance, and the applicability of the US business model of venture capital to other parts of the world. After an introductory section on venture capital markets, the book
describes governance structures of venture capital and examines performance issues. Topics in these sections include institutional investment in private equity, venture capital financial
contracting, and the economic impact of venture capital. The last section of the book addresses regional aspects and presents case chapters on global venture capital ’hotspots’: Israel, China,
and developing countries. Landström teaches business administration at Lund University, Sweden. Mason teaches entrepreneurship at the University of Glasgow, UK. Annotation ©2013 Book News,
