Although the subject was addressed in earlier days, the field of business and the natural environment has come into its own only in the past couple decades in response to accelerating calls for
the corporate sector to reduce pollution and prevent damage to the environment. It’s a multi-national field, and approaches differ; in North American scholarship has emphasized theory and
methodology, while European scholarship has built on social theories and has emphasized qualitative studies and more engagement with the corporate community. Georg (environmental studies,
Copenhagen Business School, Denmark) and Hoffman (sustainable enterprise, U. of Michigan) provide a general introduction to their selection of 70 articles and excerpts, reprinted from such
sources as Academy of Management Review, Ecology Law Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of International Business Studies. Arrangement is in four volumes according to the
following broad themes: conceptual models, drivers of change, organizational response, and emergent directions. The anthology is not indexed. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
