This work introduces HR professionals to the language and concepts of accounting and finance and shows how they relate to issues of compensation and benefit analysis. Although the book is
US-centric, its wide coverage of accounting and finance issues has implications for global HR management. Part 1, the bulk of the book, introduces key concepts of the total compensation system,
with chapters on business, financial, and HR planning, and projecting compensation costs. Types of compensation described include incentive compensation, share-based plans, international and
expatriate compensation, sales compensation accounting, healthcare benefits, and retirement plans. Part 2 looks at nontraditional concepts, with chapters on human resource analytics and human
resource accounting. Biswas teaches accounting and finance at DeVry University. FT Press is an imprint of Pearson Education. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
