Skin Graf includes a history of graffiti tattoos and interviews with twelve prominent artists, "flash" drawings (in which they sketch out lettering ideas for potential patrons), and
photographs of their final creations. Each artist will be represented by their words and images that tell a compelling and authentic tale of graffiti’s jump from the subways to skin. The book
highlights some of the most important figures within the graffiti tattoo movement, reaching from New York to Los Angeles, New Mexico to Puerto Rico, Hong Kong to Holland. Curated by famed
graffiti tattooist Michael "Kaves" McCleer and tattoo historian Billy Burke, Skin Graf will feature an essay on the history and evolution of the culture.
The artists featured display a diverse palette of styles. Photographers Angela Boatwright and Esteban Oriol capture these artists in their natural habitats: in their tattoo shops, in their
homes, on their motorcycles or racing bikes--to show the lifestyle that influences their art. Photographs of their work--and the subjects who have been tattooed by these artists--will also be
seen in their everyday surroundings, so we also get a window into the lives of people who have chosen to make their bodies moving museums.
