This work presents selected papers from the July 2011 Sixth Annual Conference of the Competition and Regulation European Summer School, written by international contributors in management,
finance, and economics. Part 1 delves into competition policy and antitrust, with papers on switching costs and network effects in competition policy and the economics of pending patents. Part
2 considers online search, advertising, and two-sided markets, with discussion of topics such as online advertising and competition policy and unilateral merger effects in the Dutch daily
newspaper market. Part 3 addresses regulation, with chapters on bargaining and collusion in a regulatory model and understanding the electricity wholesale market in Spain using structural
models. The final section covers financial regulation, looking at areas such as rebuilding international financial regulation and Basel III. Harrington teaches economics at Johns Hopkins
