The Music Library of a Noble Florentine Family: A Catalogue Raisonne of Manuscripts and Prints of the 1720s to the 1850s Collect

Robert Lamar Weaver (emeritus, music history, U. of Louisville) organized the University's 1987 acquisition of the entire lot of music and prints, thus keeping it from being dispersed, and almost immediately began cataloging it. After an initial section explaining the organization, the material is presented in sections of secular music; sacred music; and method, theory, and history books. In addition, he wrote two analytical essays, on the history and cultural background of the Ricasoli Collection, and evidence from the Ricasoli Archives for music in the chapels and household 1777-1850.
