In investigating the mysterious death of Professor Goodman, who holds the key to a formula for creating diamonds, Hugh Drummond uncovers a menacing plot involving the Metropolitan Diamond Syndicate and, inevitably, his seemingly indestructible enemy, the sinister Carl Peterson.
